Adobe gamma was never meant to be used for LCD monitors, only for the old fashioned CRT monitors (the ones that look like old-style televisions) and it won't work at all in Vista or Windows 7, so adobe has stopped including it. I can't remember offhand but it may be on the PSE 6 install disc as an extra (it was either PSE 5 or 6 where they included it but stopped installing it automatically), but in any case you would be better off checking to see if your video driver includes a calibration utility (most do) and using that instead, unless you are running XP or earlier on a CRT monitor.
Then restart an watch for the color changes. If you see your profile at first then as windows desktop loads does it change back. If so something in the start up cause it. If it never started with the color profile you need to enable color calibration in colormgmt panel. If it is a program at start up then goto msconfig and loook through startup tab. I don't have Adobe gamma loader. I disable all then restart and my profile work through startup. As I enable what programs that should have nothing to do with color or monitor so it work find. When I enable my graphics cards user interface then it was back of losing my color profiles. So I keep that off.

The adobe gamma tool can be told to use your profile, but the procedure is slightly tricky: Open adobe gamma from photoshop (in the Help->Color Management... menu item), select "Open Adobe Gamma", and select the "Load.." button. Select your profile and "Open". Select "OK" in the Adobe Gamma, it will then ask you to save it's modified version of your profile under a different name. Chose a name for the modified profile, and save it. Exit from Photoshop. Copy the profile you want to use, over the modified profile that you saved in Adobe Gamma. (If you don't do the last step, the profile Photoshop will be using will have been modified in strange ways from what you intended.) 2ff7e9595c
